Co-Founder Birth Assistant Curriculum Coordinator Business Manager
Chelsea Doyle, BA
I started my journey into the birth world in 2003 during the birth of my first child with my midwife. That was it, I was hooked! In 2007 I left my banking job of 10 years to work for a local birth center. I also had my second child that year at the same birth center. I continued to work there for 3 years, during which time I advanced to the Operations Manager. I loved the working environment but couldn't handle not being in the room to participate in the births! In 2007 I attended the Labor Support Doula course at Seattle Midwifery School and began attending births as birth doula. I have now been attending births as a doula for clients and an assistant for midwives. It is an amazing honor to attend births and provide that support to midwives and families. It is my passion for this birth world that has brought me here, educating and supporting families and running a training program for other potential birth professionals that share the same passion! I love passing on my knowledge and training to others who desire to attend births in a supportive role. It is because of my years of experience and exposure to midwives, birth centers and business that I have gained this solid foundation for what it means to be an educator, advocate and supporter of birth. I have committed myself to attending many birth related workshops, conferences, seminars and classes to expand my knowledge base for safe and healthy out of hospital births. It is an amazing opportunity to attend births in this capacity... I am happy to share with you what I have learned!
In addition to training birth professionals and providing small business consulting, I also work at the Puget Sound Birth Center as a birth assistant. I have attended over 200 births and have taught birth assisting for over 7 years. Recently, I have also assisted the legislative committee for our local midwifery organization: MAWS to help pass our birth assistant bill in Washington state.
